National Cooperative Month: Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative

October is National Cooperative Month, and to highlight their importance I was able to talk with the CEO of one of the largest coops in the area.
The Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative provides electricity to rural communities across Jackson, Jones, Delaware, and Dubuque County. CEO Jeremy Richert highlighted the core principle of the cooperative, reliable coverage that prioritizes their members.
The financial benefits is just one factor that Richert attributes to their success, as this year marks 90 years since their founding. The numbers also reflect this sentiment, as MVEC conducts yearly members satisfaction surveys.
Iowa is home to hundreds of co-ops across many different markets, and are contribute to much of the work done in their communities.
