Bellevue established public battery drop-off location

The Bellevue Fire Department and Public Works Department have established a dedicated drop location for used batteries.

Bellevue Fire Chief Kent Clasen also sits on the Transfer Station Board and shared two instances of improperly disposed batteries igniting while at the station just this past week. The permanent battery disposal site is a blue waste bin labeled “batteries” at the city shop on Vine Street.

Regular household batteries will be taken to the transfer station and disposed of properly without risk of fires. Automotive or industrial batteries are not eligible for the drop-off service.
