Maquoketa Fire Department: Fire Prevention Week and Operation EDITH

Fire prevention week starts next Monday, and the Maquoketa Fire Department will host its annual Operation EDITH.

Fire Prevention Officer Matt Balliu joined Just Talk to break down what the program involves and why it matters.

Balliu says practicing these fire drills has only become more important. Modern furniture and building materials burn much faster when compared to previous decades, significantly reducing the time available to safely exit a burning building.

Operation EDITH has been a tradition in the area longer than Balliu can remember. Operation EDITH will be conducted next Wednesday October 7th at 6pm.
