Local resources available for dementia caregivers

The Jackson County Walk to End Alzheimer’s is coming up Tuesday October 6th, collaborating with the Maquoketa Farmer’s Market.
Beyond the walk itself, Jackson County has resources available not just for Alzheimer’s patients, but for their caregivers and family members as well. Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee member Sally Davies says those resources are closer than many residents realize, and encourages anyone who needs support to reach out.
Davies says caring for both the Alzheimer’s patient and their caregiver is equally important. When caregivers neglect their own needs, Davies says the risk of burnout and accidents increases significantly.
