The Friends of the Bellevue Pool are responsible for the pool remaining open, and are pushing to provide a new pool with updated machinery and amenities.
Friend of the Pool member Mark Mueller discussed the group’s history since its founding in 2021. The nonprofit group originally formed when the pool was at risk of closing due to lack of maintenance funding.
The group now has plans to construct a new pool, as the existing one was constructed back in 1965.
The new pool would allow for easier maintenance while maintaining the purpose of swimming lessons and family recreation.
A vote for an increase to Bellevue resident’s property tax rate to help fund the pool project will be up for vote on November 3rd.
