Water shut off in Maquoketa homes for hydrant replacement

Water will be shut off to several homes and buildings in Maquoketa starting this morning.
The shutoff will allow for a fire hydrant replacement at the corner of Grant and Vine Street.
The water will shut off around 8am and remain off until the replacement is made, estimated at around 8 hours of work. Buildings in the 100 block of Grant Street, alongside Melrose, Vine, Niles, Longview, and Oak will all be affected by the shutoff.
After water has been restored, a precautionary boil order will go into effect for the listed areas.
