Dubuque’s Eagle Point Park Awarded Grant

A major win for local history and community space: Dubuque’s Eagle Point Park just secured a $750,000 challenge grant from the Jeffris Family Foundation. The funds are earmarked for preserving and restoring the park’s iconic buildings and spaces designed by legendary landscape architect Alfred Caldwell. However, unlocking the full grant requires a community effort. Under the foundation’s two-to-one match model, the city must raise $1.5 million in private donations to secure the $750,000 award—funding a comprehensive $2 million restoration project. Work is already moving forward. The Dubuque City Council approved nearly $1 million in this year’s budget for immediate fixes, including tennis court resurfacing, roof repairs, sidewalk work, and bluff and tree clearing. To cover the rest of the restoration costs, Dubuque plans to launch a multi-phase fundraising campaign soon.
