1st day of school in the books for Maquoketa High School

Yesterday was the first day of school for all the area school districts, seeing students back in the classrooms engaging with teachers and each other.

I was able to stop by the Maquoketa High School yesterday afternoon just before students left for the early out day. I spoke with the new high school principal Keith Kohl about how the first day for the students and himself in the new role went.

Principal Kohl said he felt that the first day went as well as it could have, and was looking forward to completing the first full week of the school year. This Friday will also have an early dismissal for the Maquoketa Schools, helping to ease students and staff into the new schedule.
