Dubuque Fire Department maintains accreditation status

The Dubuque Fire Department has earned re-accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.
The department first earned their accreditation in October of 2021. Earning the status requires a rigorous five-year review process, including document evaluations and on-site assessments by the commission.
Of the more than 300 departments accredited in the U.S. and Canada, only six are in Iowa, with Dubuque being one of them.
Dubuque Fire Chief Amy Scheller stated, “This achievement reflects the tremendous commitment of our Fire Department members and the many City departments and partners who supported us throughout the accreditation process. It takes an entire organization working together to critically evaluate how we serve our community, measure our performance against professional standards and industry best practices, and identify opportunities to become better.”
