Bellevue Chief of Police Dennis ‘Bud’ Schroeder announces retirement

2026 will mark over 36 years of service to his community

Bellevue Police Chief Dennis ‘Bud’ Schroeder announced this morning that he will retire at the end of the year, bringing a close to more than three decades of service to his hometown.

Bud joined KMAQ on Just Talk this morning to reflect on a career spent entirely in Bellevue where he, along with the community and the department grew side-by-side.

Bud says he’s honored to have had the opportunity to protect and serve his community for over three decades, and that while he’s looking forward to retirement, it will be hard to leave.

Bud’s last day as the Bellevue Chief of Police and his 36 years with the department will be on December 31st of this year. In retirement, Bud said he’s looking forward to putting more time towards his favorite activities: family, farming, and fishing.
