City Manager discusses clean up and recovery efforts in Maquoketa after severe storm

Maquoketa is under a local disaster declaration following a severe storm that knocked out power to hundreds of homes and businesses across the area. Damage to trees, buildings, and power lines is now being assessed, with repair efforts underway. City Manager Josh Boldt has more on the timeline.

Beyond the work of city officials and utility crews, Boldt says the community itself has already responded, explaining that he has already seen people helping their neighbors and friends, and encourages those who are able to continue.

The disaster declaration will remain in effect until the majority of storm damage has been cleared. Residents are asked to bundle tree limbs and branches under six feet in length into piles to help speed the clean-up effort.
