Maquoketa’s Voy Theatre sold to longtime manager Taylor Casel

The Voy Theatre on South Main Street in Maquoketa officially has a new owner.

New owner Taylor Casel is no stranger to the theatre, having managed it for years before purchasing the business. The theatre has served the Maquoketa community for more than 50 years. The previous ownership family says the building has been more than just a business, calling it a place where generations of families have come together.

The family is asking the community to welcome Casel with the same support they have shown over the decades, noting that every ticket purchased helps ensure the theatre continues for years to come.

The full statement from the previous ownership can be found below:

“As a family, we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Taylor on the purchase of the Voy Theatre.

For more than 50 years, the Voy Theatre has been much more than a building—it has been a place where generations of families have gathered, memories have been made, and our community has come together. Dennis poured his heart into the theatre, and seeing someone willing to continue that tradition means more to our family than words can express.

Taylor, thank you for embracing the opportunity to carry Dennis’ legacy forward. We know the responsibility of owning a small-town theatre comes with both incredible rewards and significant challenges, and we truly wish you every success in this new chapter.

To our wonderful community, we ask that you welcome Taylor with the same kindness and support that you have shown our family over the decades. Small businesses thrive because of the people who choose to support them, and every ticket purchased, every concession enjoyed, and every visit helps ensure that this treasured community landmark continues for generations to come.

Thank you again, Taylor, for believing in the future of the Voy Theatre. We are grateful to see its story continue, and we wish you nothing but happiness and success as you begin this exciting journey.”
