Construction has started today on Highway 61 with the right section of the Southbound lane just north of Maquoketa being closed.
According to the Iowa DOT 61 will experience sections of closures on both sides of the road over the next month for reconstruction and patch work. The area between County Road Y53 north of Maquoketa down to Highway 30 near DeWitt will be experiencing these closures.
Construction is expected to be finished by Friday August 21st. Make sure to allow for extra time during any commutes and make sure to slow down when passing through construction areas.
