Iowa Court of Appeals affirms dismissal of lawsuit against Jackson County

The Iowa Court of Appeals has affirmed the dismissal of a lawsuit stemming from the Maquoketa Caves murders.

The parents of Anthony Sherwin, a suspect in the murders of three campers at the Caves State Park, challenged the dismissal of their claims in Jackson County District Court. Their lawsuit alleged false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, violation of privacy rights, and and loss of consortium.

The lower court dismissed the case on grounds of lack of jurisdiction and untimely filing. The Court of Appeals affirmed that ruling.
