In 1A and 2A District Baseball make-up games from Friday night-
Our coverage area doubleheader came from Calamus. In game one, Midland held on to defeat Belle Plaine 5-3. The Eagles advance to play East Buchanan in Winthrop tonight at 7pm. Calamus-Wheatland ended a two game losing streak in the postseason to Easton Valley with a 3-1 victory. The Warriors advance to go up against #9 North Linn tonight near Troy Mills.
North Cedar lost to Lisbon 20-1.
Also tonight in 2A, Marquette Catholic will be home to Wilton in Bellevue.
In regular season play, the Maquoketa Baseball team won their senior night game at the Jack Marlowe Athletic Complex 10-0 in 6 innings over Center Point-Urbana. Parker Burmeister struck out 10 and only walked one. Kye Coakley had 3 hits and threw out two runners at 2nd base. The Cards will head to Williamsburg to play the Raiders in a varsity dh at 5pm.
The postseason for high school softball began last night. In the KMAQ Sports coverage area, Easton Valley clipped East Buchanan 6-5, the RiverHawks will travel to go up against North Linn on Wednesday night. Midland shutout Clayton Ridge 1-0. The Eagles will head to Colesburg to face Ed-Co tomorrow night.
