KMAQ SPORTS: Postseason Baseball/Softball Results & Preview

The start of the summer sports postseason began on Friday night. In Baseball District play, our featured coverage area doubleheader in Calamus saw an inning and a half get in with Midland leading Belle Plaine 4-1 before the weather delay and then the suspension of the contest. Sports Director Jon Swisher will have the resumption of that game on AM 1320/92.5/kmaq.com and the KMAQ App later today starting at 5pm followed by the second game – Easton Valley vs. Calamus-Wheatland.
North Cedar and Lisbon were postponed to tonight as well, they will play at 5pm in Delhi.
Northeast was able to get their game in and had their season ended by Wilton 8-7. The Beavers advance on to face Marquette Catholic at Cole Park in Bellevue on Tuesday night.
The softball journey to the state tournament begins tonight with Class 1A and 2A first round regional quarterfinals. In 1A- Midland travels up to Guttenberg to take on Clayton Ridge. Calamus-Wheatland entertains Central Elkader. Easton Valley hosts East Buchanan. North Cedar is at Springville. Marquette Catholic is home to MFL-MarMac, Kelsey Koos will have updates during our Baseball coverage on AM 1320.
The Maquoketa Softball and Baseball teams will be at home tonight celebrating their senior nights with the final home contests of the season starting at 5pm. Baseball has Center Point-Urbana in a JV/Varsity doubleheader, Dale Scott will have the Varsity game around 7pm on 95.1 FM. Cardinals Softball will host Iowa City Liberty in a Varsity dh.
