Dubuque fire caused by used fireworks

A fire in Dubuque is reported to be caused by improperly disposed fireworks.
Just after midnight on Sunday July 5th, Dubuque firefighters responded to Valeria Street for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival fire crews found a front porch of a residence involved in a fire with all occupants safely outside.
Fire crews had the fire extinguished before it could spread and damage the interior of the house. The investigation into the cause revealed fireworks disposed inside a trash can on the front porch to be the cause, confirmed by the homeowner’s account.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
Information collected from the Dubuque Fire Department’s press release.
