Speed limits increase to 60mph on two-lane highways effective July 1

Tomorrow July 1st, the new speed limit law will go into effect across the state.
Governor Kim Reynolds signed the bill into law on June 1st, after it passed through the Iowa House and Senate. Speed limits on two-lane highways are increasing from 55 to 60 miles per hour.
According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, the increase applies only to paved two-lane highways — not four-lane highways, interstates, or city streets.
While the increase will go into effect tomorrow, it will take time for signage across the state to be updated.
