Jeff was born on December 6, 1961, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Ralph J. Eggert and Dorothy Waters Eggert. He graduated from Midland High School with the Class of 1980. On April 20, 1990, he married Dawn Carstensen in Anamosa, Iowa.

Jeff was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical abilities, and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. Also, he served as Transportation Director for the Midland Community School District and worked at PMX Industries. He later owned and operated Wyoming Collision Repair and Eggert Crane Services.

He loved spending time with family and friends and cooking large meals for holidays and get-togethers for them. He thoroughly enjoyed working with animals, especially, elk and livestock. He was a member of the Wyoming Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Wyoming Mutual Telephone Company Board. Whether operating heavy equipment, working on machinery, or enjoying the outdoors, Jeff appreciated a life built on hard work and self-reliance.
