Clinton City Council votes against moratorium to halt data center project

The Clinton City Council voted down a moratorium that would halt the progress of a proposed data center in the city.

During a council meeting yesterday, dozens of Clinton residents spoke to the council about the topic, with the conversations lasting nearly four hours.

The project would see a data center built on over 1000 acres of what is existing farmland; in an area that has been zoned for industrial use just inside the city limits.

Most of the attendees were vocal against the data center and encouraged the council to pass a temporary 120 day moratorium to suspend the project.

At the end of the meeting, the city council voted 5-2 against the moratorium, allowing the project to progress as of now.
