Maquoketa City Manager discusses data centers and their challenges in rural communities
With the topic of data centers becoming more common and prevalent in rural communities, the Maquoketa City Manager Josh Boldt touched on them on our Just Talk podcast.
He explained that the county and city government have been approached by companies inquiring about data centers and that it hasn’t led to anything because of public interest.
As Josh said, not everywhere is suitable for construction of a data center. Further than this many companies aren’t taking into consideration the people who live in the area. Josh stated that if a deal made sense for the area and its people, and was wanted by the community, only then would a conversation be had.
