Richard Lucius Fleming

Richard Lucius Fleming, 86, of Olin, Iowa, passed away on May 29, 2026, at Silver Oak Nursing & Rehabilitation in Marion.

Richard was born on February 1, 1940, in Center Point, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Ruth (Bidder) Fleming. He married Marcella Jerome on January 1, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage and raised a family while building a life centered on hard work, faith, and family.

Richard worked for many years as a cement truck driver and was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He enjoyed farming and working on his tractors and was a handyman of many trades. Richard loved spending time in his shop with his tools and could often be found fixing, building, or tinkering with something. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when someone needed it.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Marcella Fleming; his children, Rick Fleming and Deborah (Phil) Fordyce; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Brauer and brother, William (JoAnn) Fleming along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ruth Fleming; his daughter, Laurie; his granddaughter, Melody; his sisters, Irene, Margaret and Shirley; and his brothers, Dean and Harold “Buzz” Fleming.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at the Olin Cemetery.
