KMAQ SPORTS: Results from Thursday 5/28

SOFTBALL-

Maquoketa swept Anamosa 10-5 and 9-5.

Northeast split with Cascade, losing 13-7 before winning 13-11.

Central DeWitt fell to Pleasant Valley 8-0 and 10-0.

Calamus-Wheatland lost North Linn 15-3 and 19-1.

Midland lost both #4 Ed-CO 11-0.

North Cedar was shutout by Central City 15-0.

BASEBALL-

Maquoketa started off RVC play with a sweep of Anamosa. Winning 10-5 and 17-16.

Cal-Wheat lost to North Linn 10-0.

Marquette Catholic upset #5 East Buchanan 11-8.

Easton Valley lost to Starmont 14-1.

Midland fell to Ed-Co 7-1.

Northeast lost both to Cascade 14-0 and 8-3.

Central DeWitt took two from Davenport Central 4-3 and 4-2.

GIRLS SOCCER-

In postseason play, Maquoketa won the Region 3 Class 1A quarterfinal at home on Goodenow field defeating Williamsburg 4-0. The Cards advance to play in Vinton against Vinton-Shellsburg on Tuesday night at 7pm.

Bellevue was blanked by Beckman Catholic 8-0.

GIRLS STATE GOLF-

In Class 1A in Boone, Cal-Wheat’s Natalie Schroeder sits in 55th place with a 100 +28.

Easton Valley’s Addie Fier is 2nd with a 74 at 2 over par. The RiverHawks as a team is in first place with a 344 +56, 12 strokes ahead of 2nd place Highland.

BOYS TENNIS-

Ashton Schneider and Max Froeschle ended in 7th place in the State Doubles tourney. They lost their first match and won their second match.
It’s the second straight doubles appearance for Schneider who last year finished in 9th at state. It’s also the second straight state appearance for Froeschle, who competed in singles last year. The Central DeWitt Boys Tennis Team will be competing at the team state tournament on Tuesday at 9am. Class 1A will play at Pella High School.
