Maquoketa American Legion’s Avenue of Flags

With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, many veteran organizations within Jackson County are hosting events and gathering across the area.

This Friday the Maquoketa American Legion will be conducting their Avenue of Flags at the Mount Hope and Sacred Heart Cemeteries. Commander Bob Winegar and Adjutant Clif Merrick spoke more about this event on Just Talk.

This event is completely free for those who would like to watch the raising and placing of the flags. A flag can be purchased in honor of veterans, with it then being placed during this event every year.

The flags will be put up starting at 5pm this Friday in Maquoketa. Members of the community are invited to attend and any volunteers to assist with the raising will be accepted.
