This weekend the Andrew AMVETS will be hosting several programs and events open to the public.
AMVETS Commander Jay Olson and Secretary Bill Goettler discussed the weekend of events on Just Talk. They will be having an Avenue of Flags on Friday at the Andrew Cemetery, before continuing with more programs throughout the weekend.
Sunday is one of their busiest days however with their annual breakfast hosted at their AMVETS post in Andrew. Part of the funds from this breakfast will be going towards the purchase of a new furnace in their building.
Memorial Day itself will have a program with every Jackson County veterans group at the Veterans Park in Maquoketa, with flags then taken down in the evening. Members of the public are invited to any and all events, and any help from volunteers will be accepted.
