KMAQ SPORTS: Results from Boys Sectional Golf

Preview for State Track & Field State Qualifying Meets

The spring sports postseason began yesterday around the state with Boys’ Golf Sectionals.

Class 3A in Manchester at Pin Oak Links-

Independence took first place with a 317, the host Hawks of West Delaware were runner-up with a 318. Maquoketa 6th with a 336 and Anamosa placed 8th with a 350. The Cardinals were led by Freshman Joe Ihrig with an 82 good for 14th, Ethan and Eli Winegar were 18th and 23rd with a 83 and 85 respectively, in 27th was Paxton Hansen with a 86, 42nd was Tanner Swanson with a 92 and with a 106 in 48th place was TJ Traverse.

In 2A-

At the Fillmore Fairways hosted by Cascade, the cougars claimed the top spot, West Branch and Monticello took 2nd and 3rd. Individually, Bellevue’s Brennan Ries qualified for districts at Mediapolis.

In 1A-

At the Little Bear Country Club near Wyoming hosted by Midland, Marquette Catholic finished 2nd and advanced to their district at Oskaloosa. Individually, Midland’s Cole Snyder qualified.

District meets will take place on Monday beginning at 10am.

GIRLS and BOYS TRACK & FIELD-

The postseason for Track and Field begins this afternoon around the state with Coed State Qualifying Meets with a 4pm start time for field events at all sites.

In Class 3A- Maquoketa will be at Central DeWitt.

2A- Northeast is at Tipton, while Anamosa, Cascade and Monticello are in Hudson.

1A- Bellevue, Calamus-Wheatland, Easton Valley Marquette Catholic, Midland and North Cedar will be in Lisbon.
