On Thursday the Maquoketa Optimist Club held their Respect the Law Banquet at the Timber Center in Maquoketa.
During the event, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Maquoketa Police Department recognized individuals they felt deserved it. The Sheriff’s Office recognized Curt Gruver for his 34 years of service in the area.
The Maquoketa Police Chief Brendan Zeimet then honored Jayson Heiar and Andrea Werner for their efforts in law enforcement. Heiar for his efforts in saving a 2-year-old child that was choking, and Werner for her over 36 years as a 911 Dispatcher.
