18-year-old killed in crash near Miles

An 18-year-old from Clinton was killed in a car accident on Friday afternoon.

According to official police reports, a car accident just West of Miles on 17th St and 484th Ave was reported to law enforcement.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver and only occupant lost control, struck a piece of farm equipment, and then struck a building before coming to rest inside. The driver was unresponsive when officials arrived on scene, and was later pronounced dead from their injuries.

The name of the driver is being withheld for now, with the investigation being led by the Iowa State Patrol.
