Patricia “Pat” Rae Peiffer

Patricia “Pat” Rae Peiffer, 84, of Minonk, Illinois, formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Patricia was born February 24, 1942, in Iowa City, to Clifford and Sybil (Carpenter) Shady. She graduated from Andrew High School and was united in marriage to Nicholas Peiffer on May 25, 1963, in Maquoketa. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Patricia was a homemaker devoted to her family and faith. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Minonk and formerly Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. She was active in Catholic Daughters and enjoyed playing cards, baking, sewing, cooking, and listening to music. She especially valued time spent with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Lori (Gary) Arterberry of Bunceton, MO, Cathy (Jay) Pieper of Maquoketa, Jean Yarolem of Rochelle, IL, Nancy Peiffer of Maquoketa, Tom Peiffer of Maquoketa, Ed Peiffer of Rockford, Kevin (Becky) Peiffer, and Jeremy (Heather) Peiffer both of Minonk; her sister, Rose (Lyle) Rowan of Maquoketa; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Mary Irene Peiffer and Agnes Peiffer and a brother-in-law Steve Flagel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nicholas; a grandson, Matthew Arterberry, three sisters and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa with Fr. Ben Nkrumah officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the church prior to Mass. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
