Scooter safety classes required for youth in Bellevue

With the City of Bellevue implementing a new ordinance on scooter usage within the city, a safety class is now required for adolescents to utilize them.
City Administrator Teresa Weinschenk spoke about the need for the ordinance following many complaints and an incident involving a youth.
The class is being hosted by the Bellevue Police Department and will go over general road safety as well as more specific scooter safety. Two classes are being offered to Bellevue residents this Saturday and Sunday.
After going through the class, youth will then receive a card similar to a license as well as a scooter tag confirming they passed the safety course. Officers will be enforcing the ordinance to ensure compliance.
