Benjamin Joel “BJ” Eberhart

Benjamin “BJ” Joel Eberhart, 46, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away April 22, 2026, in De Soto, Missouri.

He was born January 20, 1980, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Robert E. Eberhart and Jacalyn R. (Miller) Eberhart.

BJ initially worked as a car salesman where he met many people that became important parts of his life including Kevin and Ning Blackwell. He worked as a maintenance man for Golden Management Inc. in Union, Missouri, where his strong work ethic and natural ability to fix just about anything made him someone others could always rely on. He had a true gift with his hands, whether it was woodworking, repairing equipment, or helping a friend in need, B.J. approached every task with patience, skill, and quiet pride. He faced challenges with strength and resilience. He was especially comfortable around horses, a passion that reflected his steady nature and deep appreciation for hard work and the outdoors. He loved his dog PeeWee, and called him his best friend.

BJ was mischievous at times as he always enjoyed pulling off a funny prank. He once let 1,000 crickets loose in his high school as a senior prank. He gave his Aunt Cheryl a special birthday present, a beautiful wooden jewelry box with a soft gray furry friend inside that made her scream and jump off her chair when she opened her gift.

BJ was most proud of his daughter’s academic achievements. He was extremely proud she chose nursing as a career.

He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and dear friends, sharing stories, lending a helping hand, and simply being present for the people he loved.

In his younger years, BJ attended Delwood Elementary School in Delmar, Iowa for Kindergarten. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Maquoketa, Iowa where he met his best friend, Dustin Edwards. He participated in Future Farmers of America FFA and Boy Scouts Troop 68. He attended Maquoketa High School his freshman year. His family then moved to Desoto, Missouri where he attended St. Pius X High School in Festus, Missouri. He graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1998. All of these experiences helped shape the dependable and hardworking man he became.
