Two Maquoketa residents arrested and facing several charges

Two Maquoketa residents were arrested on Saturday night during a traffic stop and are facing several charges.

During the traffic stop, officers found drug paraphernalia identified as marijuana, open containers of alcohol, and a loaded handgun. Both individuals were then placed under arrest.

The driver is charged with 1st offence OWI, driving with a suspended license, open container, ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 3rd or more offence of drug possession.

The passenger is charged with open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 2nd offence of drug possession.

Both individuals are being held in the Jackson County Jail.
