2023 Clinton County murder sentencing upheld by Iowa Court of Appeals

The weekly sentencing summary for Clinton County was released and showed 5 different felony convictions for last week, as well as two different cases that had their ruling upheld by the Iowa Court of Appeals.
The most notable occurrence was one of the appeal affirmations, as it upheld the ruling of a murder trial that occurred in 2023. The Defendant–Appellant Kimberly Hammond was convicted in 2023 for 1st degree murder and 1st degree burglary, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
An appeal was filed for both charges citing inconsistent evidence within the trial.
Both rulings have been affirmed by the Iowa Court of Appeals, and Hammond will continue to serve her life sentence without the possibility of parole.
