Tornado in Jackson County confirmed as EF-1
A tornado was confirmed to have touched down near Preston, Charlotte, and Delmar yesterday evening.
According to reports from the city and county officials, several power lines were damaged with two poles being snapped and requiring replacement. The tornado has been given an EF-1 rating by the National Weather Service.
The City of Preston and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported the power outages to Alliant Energy, and worked on clearing wires from roadways and trees. The City of Preston has confirmed that as of 1pm, power has been fully restored to all residents in the city.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the storm. We will continue to monitor the situation and pass along any updates.
