Jackson County K-9 costs taxpayers nothing

The Jackson County Sheriff’s office has had a K-9 unit since the early 2000s, and it has never cost the taxpayers any money.
While it has never cost Jackson County residents any money, the cost to operate a K-9 unit is not cheap. Administrator Karen Wells spoke more about the K-9 unit on Just Talk.
The K-9 officer must also be able to train and handle the dog in various situations. Over the years, several different demonstrations and events have been held to showcase the K-9 to schools and the community.
The K-9 is made possible by donations of food and supplies by local businesses, and funds from residents.
