The Maquoketa Community School District held a special meeting yesterday afternoon to discuss and approve a bond sale.

The best bid for 7.5-million dollars which will be used for the Briggs Elementary Project. In passing the bond sale, this allowed the district to ensure that funds were collected from a source that did not impact the tax payer or affect property tax.

Following the explanation given by the presenter and discussion by the board of education members, the resolution was passed. While it has been passed, the school district will not be receiving the funds for the project until May 7th.
