Maquoketa School District tax levy meeting April 13th

The Maquoketa Community School District is holding meetings for their proposed property tax levy.

The meeting they held on Monday did not have any comments from those who were in attendance, but it will not be the last meeting. The percentage of taxes paid by property owners will actually decrease slightly. Cardinal Superintendent Tara Notz spoke about the reason behind the decrease, and that it may not last into the year after.

While the state is helping to lower the property tax for this year, there is nothing to ensure they will stay lowered after the next year. The next meeting on the tax levy will be on Monday April 13th at 5:30pm. The meeting is completely open to the public, and community members with any questions or comments are encouraged to attend.
