MCSD tax levy and regular meeting

The Maquoketa Community School District held a public tax levy and a regular board meeting yesterday evening.
When the floor was opened for discussion and comments on the tax levy rate, no one in attendance provided any questions or comments. The tax levy meeting was adjourned and the regular meeting followed immediately after at 5:35pm.
During the regular meeting, school administrators and faculty gave education updates and highlights for their respective schools. There were 4 students from 3rd and 4th grades who advanced in their reading programs, and were given awards for their progress. 4th grade students also demonstrated information they learned through the American Heart Association on CPR and information regarding strokes.
After the education updates the agenda moved onto other business, with one of the most notable being the approval of the purchase of new classroom displays. These displays would replace the projectors while allowing for more interaction and use by both students and faculty. The anticipated cost of the replacements is just below 300-thousand dollars, with the funding coming from the technology improvement plan.
The next board meeting for the proposed tax levy will be on Monday April 13th at 5:30pm.
