Local Basketball Scores from Last Night – KMAQ SPORTS

Last night in local high school basketball:

In our first game on KMAQ, The Central DeWitt Boys Basketball Team fell one game short of a trip to the state tournament, as they were defeated by Solon 49-44 in a Class 3A Substate final. The Sabers end the season with a 15-9 record.

After that game on KMAQ we had a Class 3A Girls State Quarterfinal between Maquoketa and Mediapolis. The Cardinals were not going to be denied in the first round for a second year in a row as they picked up their first state tournament win in program history 57-23. The Cards held the Bulldogs to a season low in points, and a season high in turnovers. Maquoketa will play Des Moines Christian on Thursday afternoon at 3pm.

Today on KMAQ we’ll have a Class 4A Girls State Quarterfinal on the air as Central DeWitt will take on Norwalk, and attempt to avenge their loss from last year’s state quarterfinal round. We’ll go on the air and online with that game around 1:15.

Yesterday in men’s college hoops – #6 Iowa State was beaten by 2nd-ranked Arizona 73-57.
