Maquoketa Superintendent comments on the schools relationship with law enforcement

With recent accomplishments and events at the Maquoketa Schools, we had the Cardinal Superintendent Tara Notz on the radio this morning to discuss things.

While she discussed the recent state competitions, she also mentioned the importance of safety within the schools themselves. Notz mentioned the incident that occurred last Thursday and how thankful she was that despite the situation, everything went smoothly.

She also mentioned the School Resource Officer that is as much a part of the school as he is the police department. I asked her more about what that role looks like and how it is used.

Notz wanted to reiterate the importance of the collaboration that the schools have with local police departments. She reiterated that having a good relationship with local law enforcement is a value that both the schools and police departments wish to maintain.
