Last night in local postseason boys basketball: Class 1 & 2A held their district final round and 4 of our area teams were all crowned district champions and are now 1 win away from a state tournament berth:

In a game heard on KMAQ – Northeast took down Mid-Prairie 75-66. The Rebels will take on 2A #3 Iowa City Regina Catholic on Saturday.

1A #9 Marquette Catholic beat Springville 57-46. They take on Montezuma Saturday night.

Calamus-Wheatland snuck by Hillcrest Academy 48-46. They will face 1A #4 Burlington-Notre Dame Saturday.

1A #6 Bellevue bested Maquoketa Valley 64-59. They now play East Marshall on Saturday night at 7pm in a substate final – You can catch that game on KMAQ.

Last night the #6 Central DeWitt girls basketball team punched their ticket back to the State Tournament with a 67-47 win over Solon. They will face the same opponent that eliminated them last year, #3 Norwalk, in a Class 4A State Quarterfinal on Tuesday at 1:30 – We’ll have play-by-play coverage of that game on KMAQ.

The Class 1A boys individual state bowling tournament wrapped up yesterday and Maquoketa senior Landon Costello is the State Champion rolling a 249 in the final round, defeating the runner-up by just 3 pins. Congratulations Landon!
