DNR warns about thinning ice conditions with warmer weather

The Iowa DNR has released information about ice conditions for travel and fishing.

Due to the stretch of warm weather, ice conditions have worsened, with reports of vehicles breaking through and sinking in some areas. Ice fishing conditions are no better, with most bodies of water having little to no coverage able to be utilized safely.

The DNR recommends that those still wanting to try and ice fish do so with extreme caution, and to double check ice conditions more regularly than usual.
