Girl Scout manager discusses cookie sale and support for local programs

Today on Just Talk we had Girl Scout Manager Lisa Barnes on our program to discuss the beginning of their cookie sales.
During the conversation we discussed the different branches of the girl scouts as well as how the funds raised from sales are used. One organization-wide program they host is the Care to Share, which allows customers to purchase cookies for others.
Funds raised from the girl scouts sales are used for covering expenses like food, travel, and lodging. Not only for practical purposes, but also for local projects, initiatives, and charities.
Maquoketa has had such projects be funded and made possible by the sales made from cookies that were initiated by local girl scouts. So when you buy cookies, you’re not just helping the organization as large, but also your own community.
