Area State Wrestling Qualifiers and Tonight’s Local Basketball Games – 2/16

On Saturday, state qualifying district wrestling tournaments were held across Iowa and 10 area wrestlers punched their ticket to the state tournament in Des Moines later this week.

Northeast heavyweight Brady Shannon also qualified
Midland sent two wrestlers in Wyatt Christiansen at 157 and Dane Ballou at 175
Central DeWitt qualified 5 wrestlers: Cale Johnson at 126, Eli Edfors at 132, Greyson Grell at 138, Keaton Hansen at 150, and Kazmir Senneff at 215.
Maquoketa senior Ryker Henderson is also going back to the state tournament, qualifying at heavyweight this year.
On Saturday night, in a game heard on KMAQ, the Maquoketa girls basketball team had a record-breaking win in their regional quarterfinal game against Wilton, beating the Beavers 96-11. Setting the program record for most points scored in a game and largest margin of victory.
Tonight in local high school postseason boys basketball – Class 1A has their district quarterfinal round and 4 area teams are in action:

Calamus-Wheatland entertains Lone Tree
Easton Valley plays West Central
Marquette Catholic is hosting Prince of Peace
