Fire contained at Ditmer Recycling

There was a large fire yesterday afternoon at Dubuque’s Ditmer Recycling buildings.

Around 3:13pm yesterday reports came in of a structure fire at Ditmer Recycling on Radford Road. When crews arrived, they found a large pile of recycling material that was on fire.

Due to the size of the pile and the fire, crews worked on stopping the fire from spreading before working on extinguishing it. The size of the pile also required Ditmer workers to use equipment to remove portions of the material to help quell the blaze.

Because of the combined efforts, the fire only damaged the recycling material and did not spread to the building or any equipment.

The Dubuque Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Dubuque Police Department, Farley Fire Department for air resources, and Ditmer staff.

No injuries were reported from the fire.
