KMAQ Local Sports – Thursday, Feb 12

Tonight on KMAQ the Maquoketa girls and boys basketball teams are both in action, competing at two different sites. At 6PM the 3A #1 ranked Cardinal girls will be hosting their toughest opponent of the season in two-time defending Class 5A champion Johnston. The Dragons are ranked #1 in Iowa’s top class and have won 71 consecutive games. Pregame with Jon Swisher and Dale Scott begins at 5:45. At 7:30 the Cardinal boys hit the road to face Clinton. Justin Tjaden will go on the air with that matchup immediately following the girls game.
Also tonight is the first round of Class 1A Girls Postseason hoops and two area teams are facing each other as Midland visits Calamus-Wheatland. Also the Easton Valley girls host Prince of Peace – The winner of that matchup will face Marquette Catholic, and we’ll have that game on Tuesday night on KMAQ.
The Maquoketa girls bowling team heads to the state tournament in Waterloo today, searching for their 3rd state title in 4 years. The Cardinals face defending state champion, Camanche, in round 1. Bowling starts at 3pm at Cadillac XBC. Stay tuned to KMAQ for periodic updates.
