Jackson County Veterans Memorial Park’s history, expansion, and stone sale

Members of the Jackson County Veterans Memorial Park Inc. were on our Just Talk program to discuss the history of the park, updates happening there, and the memorial stone sale.

John Williams started off the conversation with a history of how the park came about, and why it’s located where it is.

From there and following the wish of a fellow soldier, they leveled the lot in 2013 and began construction in 2014. Initially the park had two walls for veterans, but demand quickly made them expand, with them gearing up to add two additional walls which would be the total when complete to eight memorial walls. Marty Balliu who helps lead construction efforts also spoke on some updates being added into the park soon.

Steve Lucke then went into the details of the stone sale that when ordered will be placed and displayed on the walls in the park. He made sure to stress that the more orders received the better, for lower shipping costs as well as recognizing as many veterans as possible.

So if you are a veteran or would like to honor a family member who is, consider ordering a stone for the wall at the Jackson County Veteran Memorial Park.
