Dubuque initiative to plant more trees expanded to allow more applicants

Dubuque has expanded the availability of those who are eligible for its Free Tree Program.
This initiative aims to plant more than 5,000 new trees in the community by the end of 2029. The effort launched in August of 2024 and has been receiving funding from the U.S. Forest Service. Residents and land owners who are eligible may apply by the end of February for Spring planting, or the end of July for Fall planting of the trees.
The tree, mulch, watering supplies, and planting assistance will all be provided to those who apply and are accepted for eligibility.
