Ice fishing clinic next weekend in Maquoketa

The Jackson County Conservation is starting off the month with many different events.

Next Saturday Jan. 17th will be an ice fishing clinic for those wanting to learn more and try out some ice fishing. Naturalist Julia Rodewald was on our Just Talk program on Monday to discuss this event, where it will be, and some of the things that will be covered.

The event is completely free and you don’t need any materials to participate either. The Jackson County Conservation will be providing all the equipment needed. One thing needed though is a valid fishing license for those 16-years-old and up.

The event will be cancelled if the ice conditions on the pond or weather are not conducive for ice fishing. Registration is required by Thursday Jan. 15th, and is open to everyone who would like to sign up.
