Saturday afternoon the Maquoketa boys basketball team took down Western Dubuque 57-52 in a game heard on KMAQ. The Cardinals were led by 31 points from senior Nolan Ehlinger, they improve to 2-5 on the season.
The Maquoketa girls and boys bowling teams were also in action Saturday when they competed at the Rose Bowl in Muscatine at the heavily attended Louisa-Muscatine Invite. The Cardinal girls came in 3rd place out of 16 teams with a total pinfall of 2532 – senior Hadley Ihrig led the way with a 2 game total of 424. The Cardinal boys finished 5th out of 18 teams with a total pinfall of 2948 – Logan Clasen led the way with a 2 game total of 420. The boys and girls will be back in action this afternoon at Cedar Rapids Bowling Center where they will face Marion.
Tonight the Maquoketa Girls Wrestling team has a Home Meet where they will compete with Alburnett, Bellevue, Northeast, and West Liberty. You can listen to all the coverage of the Cardinal girls matches on KMAQ – action will begin around 5:30.
In College Hoops: Last night the 10th ranked Iowa State women suffered their first loss of the season falling in a close one at home to Baylor 72-70.
Finally, the 14th ranked Iowa women play at Northwestern tonight, tip-time is 7:30.
